Sight Word The: Free Worksheet, Video, and Activities

Teaching sight words can be very frustrating because really all it takes in reps. Lots and lots of reps before your child/ student is able to get the word down. I have found that practicing throughout the day in short increments to work the best. To make it fun I like to use lots of different activities.

In this post you will find

  • Write the word on a popsicle stick and have the child look for the word in their favorite picture book

  • Read a story to the child and whenever you come access the sight word have the child read the word to you.
  • Trace the word with different color markers or highlighters
  • Shape the word with play dough
  • Write the word in large letters on a paper and have the child cover the letters with stickers

  • It’s no stress if the child can’t remember, just tell them the word and move on. It is not a race.
